Lake Forest, CA  May 21, 2013: The Asterisk Mobile Medical Center (AMMC) would like to thank our friends at ONE Industries for stepping up to support our Concussion Management program for the 2013 Lucas Oil Motocross series.   Concussion management continues to receive main stream media attention.  We are proud that our program stands up against those in all professional sports as one of the most comprehensive.

Thanks to ONE Industries, rider baseline testing for the 2013 Lucas Oil participants, follow-up, release testing and review will also be available in Southern California, by appointment with Eddie Casillas, Program Coordinator at iCHOR Sports Medicine or Paul R. Reiman, M.D. of Alexander Reiman Orthopedics.  Detailed information about the program is offered on the rig’s website at http://themedicrig.com.

ONE Industries has been known for pushing the envelope and seeking advancement in the products built for our sport. When it comes to advancement, few areas are as important as protecting our brains from rotation violence. This is what is known to be the main cause of concussion and severe Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). This Fall, ONE Industries will be launching their already proven Gamma helmet with a new and exciting safety feature to answer the call for reduced rotational violence. Stay tuned for more information.

“First and foremost, I want to thank Doc Bodnar for his interest in working with us and his belief in our product. I am honored and proud to be aligned with such an important program and one that has done so much for our sport. We look forward to supporting the AMMC this 2013 season.” – ONE Industries Marketing Director: Greg Lenac.

About ONE Industries

ONE Industries began as a small band of riders driven by a common passion and a belief that we could do better. In 1997, the army began assembling in the heart of San Diego, California. First we revolutionized motocross graphics, but we were soon designing and marketing a complete line of innovative products for moto and bike riders. We expect our products to be second to none, because we are riders like you who want to be at our best on every ride. So join us on your next ride. And become another rider in the “Army of ONE”.

Lake Forest, CA (5 July 2012) – The Asterisk Mobile Medical Center (AMMC) has successfully implemented a comprehensive Concussion Management Program for Professional Motocross Athletes.  With a grant from Shoei Safety Helmet Corporation and the support of MX Sports Pro Racing, ImPACT® (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) baselines for all competitors have been completed.

Paul R. Reiman, M.D., Medical Advisor for the AMMC Concussion program and Eddie Casillas, ATC, Program Coordinator have also implemented the concussion evaluation and treatment process.   Riders with a suspected concussion will be evaluated at the event.  If a concussion is confirmed, the rider will be referred to a concussion specialist in their area for care and follow-up testing until results have returned to baseline.  The rider will then undergo an exertion stress test and if all three components: Physician evaluation, examination after exercise, and an ImPACT test that returns to baseline, the rider will be released to riding.  Riders must have a final evaluation, by the Chief Medical Officer of the event, at the Asterisk Mobile Medical Center prior to returning to competition.

John Bodnar, M.D., Medical Director of the Asterisk Mobile Medical Center wants to thank the professional motocross community for their strong support during the implementation process.  “I particularly want to thank Shoei Helmets for their financial support, MX Sports Pro Racing and Feld Motor Sports for their concern and dedication to rider safety, as well as Eddie Casillas, ATC and Paul R. Reiman, MD. for their expertise and hard work in designing and implementing this comprehensive modern concussion program.

Athletes entering professional competition, or other individuals interested in learning more about the ImPACT program should contact Eddie Casillas, ATC at 951-290-8007 or Paul R. Reiman, M.D at 951-461-8684.

The Asterisk Mobile Medical Center is an emergency care facility available at each AMA professional Outdoor Motocross and Supercross event to staff, participants, and crew at no cost. The full 53 foot hospital trailer is staffed with qualified, experienced medical personnel and offers specialized equipment for our sport’s unique injuries.  The Asterisk Mobile Medical Center is provided to the racing community by Asterisk. Our event day operations are made possible by MX Sports Pro Racing, Feld Motorsports, various Race teams, as well as individual riders and private donors.
